ORIGIN: Wairarapa CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Warm spring and summer leading to ideal flowering and ripening conditions, with a short period of rain during February. DATE OF HARVEST: 22 - 28 April 2009 HARVEST & VINIFICATION: Hand-picked and 100 % de-stemmed. Fermentation in stainless steel vats and maceration for 3 weeks. Aged in 40 % new and 60 % used French Oak barriques for 4 years. DATE OF BOTTLING: 06 March 2014 ALC: 14.0% VOL
TASTING NOTES: Dark Bordeaux red colour. Ripe nose of cassis with hints of milk chocolate, coffee and black olives as well as cloves. After a while also leather, a hint of some gamy characters and a touch of vanilla. In the mouth boysenberries, blueberries and spice box; then ripe sweet blackcurrant followed by some herbal notes, leather and coffee. Good concentration with a present but elegant tannin structure. Long lingering finish.
