2008 Pinot Noir "Marion's Vineyard"

ORIGIN: Wairarapa 

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS:

Mild spring leading to ideal conditions for fruitset in December. Summer was very hot and dry with some rain only towards the very end of autumn.

HARVEST & VINIFICATION:

Marion’s Vineyard is a selection of predominantly two Pinot Noir clones; the Pommard and the Able clone. Hand-picked and careful selection of grapes. 100% de-stemmed, cold-maceration and small batch fermentation in stainless steel vats and left on “skins” for 3 weeks. Aged in 30% new and 70% used French oak barriques for 13months.

TASTING NOTES:

Strikingly ripe and sweet aromas of raspberry

and boysenberries, this ruby coloured medium to full bodied wine has a lovely pure cherry filled pallet with an liqueur-like richness but also a lively acidity maintaining the wine’s elegance. Long lasting finish with some spicy undertones and an accessible soft tannin structure.

DRINKING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 ºC

CELLARING: 4 - 10 years
