ORIGIN: Wairarapa CLIMATIC CONDITIONS: Mild spring leading to ideal conditions for fruit set in December. Summer was very hot and dry with some rain only towards the very end of autumn. DATE OF HARVEST: 27th April 2013 HARVEST & VINIFICATION: Hand-picked and 100% de-stemmed. Fermentation in stainless steel vats and maceration for 3 weeks. Aged in 35% new and 65% used French Oak barriques for 30 months. DATE OF BOTTLING: 20th January 2016 ALC: 14.0% VOL
TASTING NOTES: Beautiful hues of vibrant purple, enticing aromas of exotic spices, forest floor with a pretty touch of violets. French and lively on the palate, red cherries and black currants, pure spice - cassia and cinnamon bark with seductive aromatics that extend to elegance with subtle layers of minerality, with a central core of savoury earthy notes that offer balance and structure.
